The fans ensure that the material is properly cooled before printing the next layer. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For layers with a short layer time and those with bridges\/overhangs, cooling will increase print quality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To activate the layer fans follow these steps:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Open Ultimaker Cura and select the print profile you want to modify.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Go to the \u201cCooling\u201d tab.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Make sure the \u201cEnable Print Cooling\u201d option is enabled.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"427\" height=\"58\" src=\"https:\/\/impresion3d.website\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/Ajustes-de-refrigeracion-en-Cura-activar-refrigeracion-de-impresion.webp\" alt=\"Enable Print Cooling\" class=\"wp-image-12118\" srcset=\"https:\/\/impresion3d.website\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/Ajustes-de-refrigeracion-en-Cura-activar-refrigeracion-de-impresion.webp 427w, https:\/\/impresion3d.website\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/Ajustes-de-refrigeracion-en-Cura-activar-refrigeracion-de-impresion-18x2.webp 18w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 427px) 100vw, 427px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Enable Print Cooling<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"velocidad-del-ventilador\">fan speed<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When the printhead fans are enabled, you can change certain parameters, one being the fan speed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Controlling the speed of the fan can help improve the quality of the layers and prevent problems such as warping (deformation of the material).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-background wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"background-color:#d5e8f070\">Higher speed allows for better cooling, reduced dripping and stringing, but can also increase material shrinkage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is the reason why the speed may be different for different materials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This adjustment is divided into the following parameters:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>regular fan speed<\/strong>: The speed at which the fan spins before reaching a threshold. When a layer prints faster than the threshold, the speed gradually increases towards the maximum fan speed<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>maximum fan speed<\/strong>: The speed at which the fan spins at the minimum layer time. The fan speed gradually increases between normal fan speed and maximum fan speed after reaching the threshold.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For PLA, I always recommend using a speed of 100% for the fans, with the exception of materials that can cause warping problems such as ABS, Nylon where I would use a speed of 50%. For faster layers the maximum fan speed is increased.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-background wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"background-color:#d5e8f070\">This setting defines the layer time at which the fan will switch between normal speed and full fan speed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">*By default for an Ender 3, Cura sets this value to 10.0s<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/impresion3d.website\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/Ajustes-de-refrigeracion-en-Cura-Umbral-de-Velocidad-maxima-del-ventilador.webp\" alt=\"Normal-maximum fan speed threshold\" class=\"wp-image-12122\" width=\"426\" height=\"43\" srcset=\"https:\/\/impresion3d.website\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/Ajustes-de-refrigeracion-en-Cura-Umbral-de-Velocidad-maxima-del-ventilador.webp 426w, https:\/\/impresion3d.website\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/Ajustes-de-refrigeracion-en-Cura-Umbral-de-Velocidad-maxima-del-ventilador-18x2.webp 18w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 426px) 100vw, 426px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Normal\/maximum fan speed threshold<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Initial fan speed<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>It is used only for the first layer.<\/strong>, in which the object is attached to the build plate. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-background wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"background-color:#d5e8f070\">Usually <strong>fans are disabled in the first layer to promote adhesion<\/strong> from the material to the build plate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The speed then changes back to normal fan speed, which is achieved once the height setting for normal fan speed is reached.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">By default this setting is set to 0.0 for an Ender 3<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"427\" height=\"40\" src=\"https:\/\/impresion3d.website\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/Ajustes-de-refrigeracion-en-Cura-Velocidad-inicial-del-ventilador.webp\" alt=\"Initial fan speed\" class=\"wp-image-12123\" srcset=\"https:\/\/impresion3d.website\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/Ajustes-de-refrigeracion-en-Cura-Velocidad-inicial-del-ventilador.webp 427w, https:\/\/impresion3d.website\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/Ajustes-de-refrigeracion-en-Cura-Velocidad-inicial-del-ventilador-18x2.webp 18w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 427px) 100vw, 427px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Initial fan speed<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"velocidad-normal-del-ventilador-en-altura\">Normal fan speed at height<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is the height to which the fans will rise at full speed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-background wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"background-color:#d5e8f070\">In the lower layers, the fan speed will gradually increase from zero to normal fan speed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is also possible to change this parameter by adjusting the layer number where the fans should be at full speed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Using a higher value increases adhesion to the bed, but can also cause bleed-through and reduced print quality. Printing with the fans maxed out from a height of 0.5mm is usually sufficient.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This value can change automatically when changing the layer height.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"422\" height=\"37\" time<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-background wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"background-color:#d5e8f070\">The minimum layer time determines how long it should take to print one layer. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If a layer would normally take less time than the set value, the printer slows down so that the minimum layer time is reached. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This allows the material to cool before printing the next layer.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"has-background wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"background-color:#d5e8f070\">This is the minimum speed the printer is forced to print at, despite being reduced to the minimum layer time. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When the printer slows down too much, the pressure at the nozzle is too low, resulting in poor print quality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For example, if a minimum layer time of 5 seconds requires the printer to print at a speed of 8mm\/s, it will only do so if at least 8mm\/s is set as the minimum speed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If the min speed is set to 10mm\/s, that means it won&#039;t print slower than 10mm\/s and the layer time will change accordingly, and then it will be less than 5 seconds.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Enabling this setting allows the print head to move away from the print while printing, while at minimum speed, but has not yet reached the minimum layer time. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-background wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"background-color:#d5e8f070\">The printhead will wait until the minimum layer time has elapsed and then return to printing to continue. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This allows the material to cool while at minimum speed.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img
