In Ultimaker Cura, you can customize and adjust a wide variety of media settings to get the best results from your prints.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The support configurations in Cura are used to generate structures that can support parts of the model that have overhangs. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Without these structures, the parts would break during printing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Generate Support<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The first step to configure the supports in Cura is <strong>enable support generation<\/strong>. This feature allows the program to identify areas of the model that require supports to print correctly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This option is found in the &quot;Support&quot; tab of the print settings. By activating this function, Cura will analyze the model and automatically generate the necessary supports to maintain the protruding parts during printing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In these cases, printing a support structure below the model will prevent the plastic from falling off. This can be achieved by enabling \u201cGenerate Support\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">stand extruder<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dual extrusion 3D printers provide the ability to create water soluble supports, which is a very useful feature. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This feature allows you to define which parts of the support will be printed using each extruder, giving you more control over the printing process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-background wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"background-color:#d5e8f070\">This setting will only be visible if you have a 3D printer with a <strong>dual extrusion system<\/strong> in Ultimaker Cure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This allows you to use a water soluble material on one of the extruders, while the other extruder is used to print the main model. This way, once the print is finished, you can submerge the object in water and the soluble supports will dissolve easily, leaving the main model intact.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The &quot;Support Extruder&quot; settings are divided into:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Support Filler Extruder<\/strong>: Specifies which extruder will be used to print the support fill material in a 3D print.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>First Layer Support Extruder<\/strong>: Determines which extruder will be used to print the first support layer, which is the foundation on which the rest of the support structure will be built.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>support interface extruder<\/strong>: Indicates which extruder will be used to print the support interface, which is the closest layer to the model and helps provide a smoother, easier to remove support surface.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Support Roof Extruder<\/strong>: Specifies which extruder will be used to print the support roof, which is the top of the support structures and provides a solid support surface for the top layers of the model.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Support soil extruder<\/strong>: Determines which extruder will be used to print the support floor, which is the base of the support structures and provides stability to the model during printing.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><a href=\"https:\/\/support.ultimaker.com\/hc\/article_attachments\/4405590012178\/support_infill_extruder_nr.png\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/impresion3d.website\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/Configuraciones-de-soporte-en-Cura-Varios-extrusores-840x364.jpg\" alt=\"Support settings in Cura - Support extruder\" class=\"wp-image-1173\" width=\"840\" height=\"364\"\/><\/a><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">1) Support filler extruder is indicated in red. 2) The first layer support filler extruder is indicated in red. 3) The support interface extruder is indicated in red.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Support structure<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The support structure determines how the supports will be built in relation to the main model. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ultimaker Cura offers two types of support called \u00ab<strong>Normal<\/strong>&quot; and &quot;<strong>Tree<\/strong>\u00ab. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">normal support<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When you activate Normal support in Cura, the software analyzes the model layout and determines the areas that require additional support to avoid warping or collapsing during printing. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Cura then automatically generates support structures that attach to the print base and support the projecting or overhanging parts of the model.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-background wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"background-color:#d5e8f070\">&#039;Normal&#039; support generates supports directly below your 3D model and is used by default in all Ultimaker print profiles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One of the main advantages of Normal support is its convenience and ease of use. The middle model has a 70\u00b0 overhang angle, while the right model has a 45\u00b0 overhang angle<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To determine the proper bracket overhang angle, consider printing a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thingiverse.com\/thing:2656594\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">overhang test<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Bracket pattern<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Support pattern refers to the design and arrangement of support lines that will be generated during printing. This feature improves media stability by preventing lines from separating or breaking during printing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-background wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"background-color:#d5e8f070\">When you enable the &quot;Connect support zig-zags&quot; feature in Cura, <strong>zigzag support lines connect to each other<\/strong>, creating a more resistant structure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This helps improve the stability and strength of the support, especially in areas with overhangs or complex geometries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Support density<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The support density determines the amount of material used to generate the support structures during 3D printing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-background wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"background-color:#d5e8f070\">When adjusting the support density in Cura, <strong>you can control the amount of material used to create the support structures<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A higher density will create a stronger and stronger support, since there will be more material to support the protruding or projecting parts of the model. This setting can be adjusted separately for the first layer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Support fill line direction<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Support fill line direction refers to the orientation of lines generated within support structures during 3D printing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For example, if you have a model with steep overhangs, it&#039;s a good idea to adjust the support fill line direction so that the lines are generated perpendicular to the overhang direction.
