{"id":1200,"date":"2022-03-28T21:05:28","date_gmt":"2022-03-29T00:05:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/impresion3d.website\/?p=1200"},"modified":"2023-09-04T15:16:37","modified_gmt":"2023-09-04T18:16:37","slug":"separate-objects-from-an-stl-file","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/impresion3d.website\/en\/separate-objects-from-an-stl-file\/","title":{"rendered":"How to separate objects from an STL and export them individually"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To separate objects within the same STL file you must use a program like PrusaSlicer to divide them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Open PrusaSlicer and <strong>import the STL file<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Right click<\/strong> about the objects<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Choose <strong>&quot;Split&quot;<\/strong> and click <strong>&quot;to objects&quot;<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Choose the object to export and <strong>select it<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Right click<\/strong> on the chosen model.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Choose <strong>&quot;Export as STL...&quot;<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Enter the new name and select <strong>&quot;Keep&quot;<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Repeat the process for the other objects you want to separate.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Now you have your model in a separate STL file from the rest.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Separate objects with PrusaSlicer<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sometimes when doing a job you find that there are several objects or parts inside a single STL file, and this is a problem because you need to work with each part individually.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In order to continue working, what you need is <strong>separate objects<\/strong> inside that file and then <strong>export them individually<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">PrusaSlicer is a laminator software, based on the open source Slic3r project. This software published by Prusa Research will allow you to use a function to separate objects and save them individually.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you do not have this program on your PC you can download it from <a href=\"https:\/\/cdn.prusa3d.com\/downloads\/drivers\/prusa3d_win_2_4_1.exe#_ga=2.164913464.606787579.1648468355-48211388.1648468354\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Here<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/impresion3d.website\/en\/prusaslicer-the-laminator-by-prusa-research\/#Como_instalar_PrusaSlicer\">Install PrusaSlicer<\/a> and import your STL file<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>1) Import the STL file<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Select: File =&gt; Import =&gt; Import STL\/OBJ\/AMF\/3MF<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Choose the file that contains the objects you want to separate<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Once your STL file is open, you will be able to see how, since there are several objects inside the same file, they cannot be ordered or modified separately.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure click<\/strong> =&gt; \u00ab<strong>Split<\/strong>\u00bb =&gt; \u00ab<strong>to the objects<\/strong>\u00ab<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After doing <strong>right click<\/strong>, you must select the option \u00ab<strong>Split<\/strong>\u00bb and then the option \u00ab<strong>to the objects<\/strong>\u00ab<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After this you will see that the pieces can be moved separately. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Here you have already managed to separate them, it only remains to import each model separately.<\/p>\n\n\n<div the operation the objects are still united, try clicking outside the current selection, that is <strong>&quot;de-select&quot;<\/strong> and then <strong>&quot;reselect&quot;<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At this point all the objects should be moving freely in the workspace. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Select the model you want<\/strong> \u201cExport as STL\u2026<\/strong>\u00ab<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Once you have chosen the model you want to export <strong>right click<\/strong> and choose the option <strong>&quot;Export as STL...&quot;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With this you will achieve that your chosen model or part is saved independently, in a new STL file.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1497\" height=\"918\" you can choose the folder in which you want the new STL file to be saved, you can put a name to differentiate it from the previous file.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Once the folder is chosen, select <strong>&quot;Keep&quot;<\/strong> and voila, you will have completed the process of separating objects in the same STL file.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure
