To remove seams in Cura you must choose the best options in relation to the model you want to print.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You should consider if the model has sharp or curved corners<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

What are seams in 3D printing?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The seam in 3D printing is the union between the beginning and the end of a layer. It is the point at which you start printing a wall and the same point at which you also finish printing that wall.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Each time a layer is finished, the nozzle must go up in order to continue printing the next layer. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This union that occurs for each layer, is what is called "Seam".<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is in this "beginning and end" of a layer, in which an "overlapping" of lines occurs.<\/strong>, or an excess of plastic produced by a bad flow configuration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When this union of layers is made on the outer wall, the seam is "visible" leaving a line, or an excess of plastic scattered in the form of dots<\/strong> around the entire printed model.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How to hide seams in Cura<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Seams in 3D printing are inevitable and whenever you work with this type of technology they will be present, even so, there are some tricks to hide them<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To hide seams in Cura go to Wall settings -> Z Seam Alignment<\/strong> then choose the best options for the model to print:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 3D models with angular geometry<\/strong> (with sharp corners) choose<\/strong>: <\/h3>\n\n\n\n

  • Alignment of Z seams<\/strong>: User Specified<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Z sewing position<\/strong>: (choose the position where the corner or vertices are in the model) For example \u201cBack Left\u201d<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Seam Corner Preference<\/strong>: \u00abHide seam\u00bb<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n

    In curved or more elaborate 3D models choose:<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

      In order to successfully hide the seams, it is necessary to take into account the shapes, the angles, the position of the model on the heated bed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Then use this data to configure Cura so that you can hide the seams<\/strong> with the help of the preview.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      From the Preview of Cura you will be able to preview the place where the seams will be and if they will be visible or not. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Avoid seams facing the pattern<\/strong>, if you can't remove the seams then put them in the back<\/strong>, where they are not so visible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
